TLP deal a win for Islam and Pakistan, says Mufti Muneeb
Officials from the PTI government’s negotiating team held a news conference on Sunday to brief the public on the talks with Tehreek-e-Libek Pakistan, which is banned in Pakistan (TLP).
During the news conference, government representatives included Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, while the banned TLP was represented by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
Rehman opened the news conference in Islamabad by announcing that talks with the banned TLP were “successful” and that an “agreement” had been reached.
However, he said the terms of the agreement would be released on time.
He said that the agreement reached with the government was a victory of Islam and Pakistan and not a victory or a loss for anyone.
According to Rehman, the agreement established a steering group, led by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan and comprising TLP Mufti Ghulam Ghaus Baghdadi. He said that the committee would start its work from today.
