Shaukat Tarin: Artificial hikes in dollar’s rate being investigated

ISLAMABAD: Shaukat Tarin, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Finance and Revenue, said on Sunday that the artificial spike in the price of the dollar was being monitored and that strong action would be taken against currency hoarders and smugglers.

Shaukat Tarin, speaking to reporters at an event in Karachi, claimed the rupee’s value has deteriorated due to gambling. He predicted that the government would tighten the grip on bookies.

He said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) issues will be resolved shortly. He said the government had no choice but to contact the IMF due to a paucity of cash.

“The country will get positive news regarding the IMF program since matters relevant to the program have been determined and the IMF will make its statement,” he said, adding that he expects economic growth to exceed 5% from 4%.

The administration is working on a long-term plan to improve the national economy on a sustainable foundation, according to the PM’s financial adviser.

“We don’t want two or four years of growth; we need at least 20-30 years, ”he stated. For 20-30 years, developed nations advanced. ”

During COVID-19, Prime Minister Imran Khan made balanced measures to preserve people’s livelihoods and the economy, he remarked.

Shaukat Tarin said that the administration is completely focused on building, agriculture, and industry in order to secure development across the board.

He said farm production had grown significantly in the previous year and that the Ministry of Finance was attempting to boost income from 9% to 11%.

According to Tarin, the Information Technology sector’s exports climbed by 47% last year, and other industries were also growing. He said the building industry’s promotion had resulted in more employment possibilities.
