A Morning Routine, Palm Jumeirah

October 30 2009

Every weekday between 7:30 and 7:45, the workers at the Marina Residences Towers on Palm Jumeirah congregate for morning exercises called rajio taiso, or radio exercises. Shimizu Corp., the Japanese contractor for the project, made this a requirement for the day’s beginning. To the tunes of a mini- broadcaster, a Filipino construction manager leads his Filipino construction team through the routine. PIctures from The National seem to reveal a stricter routine, but these days it’s more relaxed. More about a little stretching and an assembly for the day’s updates than anything else. Al Manakh visited for one morning. Here’s some footage from a day got off to a good start.
